From Sörenberg, the gondola lift takes you up to Rossweid. The impressive hike via Salwideli through nationally important moorland starts there. Enjoy the majestic winter landscape, the crunchy snow beneath your feet, the icy cold on your face and the breath-taking panoramic views.

Route & key data
The walk starts at the mountain station of the Rossweid gondola lift. At the start of the walk, you will be sharing the trail with the Nordic walkers. The section to Salwideli is largely level with no great changes in altitude. From Salwideli, the trail now leads gently and continuously downwards through the idyllic winter landscape to the valley bottom between the Rohthorn range and the Schrattenfluh and on to Kemmeriboden-Bad.

Arrival & return
Take the train from Lucerne or Bern to Schüpfheim. Here, you transfer to the Postbus no. 241 and ride to the “Sörenberg, Post” stop. After a short walk, you will reach the valley station of the gondola lift to Rossweid, the starting-point of the walking trail.
Begin your journey home by taking the Postbus (no. 251) from Kemmeriboden to the “Escholzmatt, Bahnhof” stop. From here, BLS takes you back to Schüpfheim and onwards in your desired direction.

Is travel to Schüpfheim included?
No, travel to/from Schüpfheim is not included in the price. If you are coming from Lucerne, buy a ticket to/from Schüpfheim, and if you are coming from Bern, buy a ticket to/from Escholzmatt (the Escholzmatt–Schüpfheim route is included in the round-trip ticket).
How do I get back?
Take the PostBus line 251 to Escholzmatt. From there, the BLS will take you back to Schüpfheim or in the direction you wish to travel for your journey home.
