Passenger information

Travelling with your dog

Your dog is welcome on our trains, buses and boats. Here you can find all the information you need on travelling with your dog by public transport.

Dogs and small pets are allowed to travel with you on public transport. For your dog you will need a second class ticket. Smaller dogs may travel free of charge if they are carried in a pet carrier.

Before your journey

At the station, bus stop or wharf, you must keep your dog on a leash or leave it in a pet carrier.

During your journey

Please note that your dogs are not allowed on seats. On many trains there are seats in what are termed multifunction areas with ample floor space. If your dog is travelling free of charge in a pet carrier, it must remain inside it for the duration of the journey. If possible, choose trains that are less crowded. Occupancy levels for any train can be checked for your connection in our online timetable.

Conductors are available to assist on our RegioExpress trains. They will gladly show you the best place for yourself and your dog.
