Lötschental Legend Trail

Let yourself be spirited away into the world of myths and fairy tales. Thanks to the exciting quiz, the hike becomes an experience for young and old.

Exciting stories from the old Lötschental await you on the wonderful hike from Lauchernalp to Fafleralp. And all this with hardly any difference in altitude. Become legend king. Whoever can answer the tricky questions along the way will be rewarded with a small gift.

An additional highlight of this tour is the idyllic Schwarzsee. Here you can take a break and enjoy a refreshing swim. Picnic spots invite you to have a barbecue.

The RegioExpress Bern - Spiez - Kandersteg - Brig – Domodossola takes you from Bern or Brig to Goppenstein without changing trains. From there the post bus takes you directly to the starting point of the hike.

Puzzle Trail

Lötschental Legend Trail

Surrounded by an impressive panorama, ten old Lötschental legends whisk you away into the world of myths and fairytales. The trail is suitable for children from the age of 5 and runs along a section of the Lötschental High Trail. If you scan the QR codes along the way, you can read the legends in German, French and English on your mobile phone. Those who solve the tricky legend quiz are rewarded with a small gift at the end of the hike at the Fafleralp kiosk.

From the Lauchernalp mountain station, the Legend Trail first leads to Weritzalp with its simple wooden chapel. Past the Tellialp, which invites you to enjoy Valais specialities, the trail leads to the legendary Schwarzsee lake. Here you can enjoy a refreshing swim, rest and have an idyllic picnic. The route continues leisurely to Fafleralp. From there the post bus takes you back to Goppenstein.

How to get there

Travel comfortably by train to Goppenstein. From Goppenstein station the post bus (direction Blatten/Fafleralp) takes you to Wiler, valley station, in about 10 minutes. Now take the cable car to Lauchernalp.
