The BLS RegioExpress takes you from Bern or Brig to Goppenstein without changing trains. From there, the PostBus takes you to the Wiler valley station in ten minutes and on to the Hockenhorngrat with the mountain railway.

Snowshoe trail to the Lötschen Pass 7 km / 3 hrs 30 min.
From the mountain station of the Hockenhorngrat ridge, the high-alpine snowshoe tour leads down below the imposing Hockenhorn into an impressive landscape towards the Lötschen Pass. The Lötschenpasshütte refuge sits at an altitude of 2,700 metres and delights visitors with stunning views of the mountain world. It is well worth taking a break in the cosy hut (from 27.12.2025). The ascent back to the Hockenhorngrat at 3,100 metres begins immediately afterwards.
Important Notes: The route leads through high alpine terrain and is only open in good weather. We recommend starting the hike by 10.00 a.m. and leaving the Lötschenpasshütte to return by 1.30 p.m. If you would like to enjoy the untouched nature for longer, an overnight stay at the Lötschenpasshütte refuge is recommended.

Winter panorama trail 1 km / 30 minutes
Europe's highest winter hiking trail
The well-groomed trail leads from the mountain station of the glacier railway to a unique vantage point with views of 40 four-thousand-metre peaks. Thanks to the cable car ride, you can easily reach 3100 metres above sea level. The easy winter hiking trail begins behind the mountain station of the glacier cable car and runs parallel to the ski slope downhill to the viewpoint with the new viewing platform. Follow the same route back to the mountain station. Here you take the cable car and then the 3-seater chairlift to Stafel. Now you can walk down to Lauchernalp or take the 6-seater chairlift back to the Lauchernalp mountain station.
