Stockhorn Igloo

The Stockhorn igloo on the frosty Hinterstockensee is the perfect place to relax in the midst of a sparkling winter landscape and unwind in the comfortable deckchairs.

The igloo bar takes care of your physical well-being, making your time out in the Stockhorn region an unforgettable experience. Of course, a visit to the igloo is not complete without a delicious fondue.

If you prefer something more active, you can go ice skating and ice fishing on the frozen Hinterstockensee lake right next to the igloo or enjoy a cosy break in the igloo after a wonderful snowshoe tour.

Travel in comfort with the BLS to Erlenbach i.S.. The valley station of the Stockhorn cable car can be reached on foot in 10 to 15 minutes.

Enjoy a flavoursome fondue in the middle of a magical world of ice. The popular cheese dish tastes particularly good in the frosty atmosphere.

Ice fishing

The first step in ice fishing is to drill a hole the size of a soup plate into the frozen Hinterstocken lake. Now dip the rod tipped with a maggot or artificial bait in and hope for an impressive catch. Enjoy nature, the sun and the absolute peace and quiet. You can hire the appropriate equipment (patent, fishing rod, ice auger) starting at CHF 47.00 at the Chrindi middle station. Bring very warm clothing and a thermos flask with a hot drink. If you have forgotten your drink, the igloo right by the lake invites you to linger.

Ice skating on natural ice

When ice conditions are favourable, Lake Hinterstocken is transformed into a skating rink in winter. Skates of all sizes can be hired for CHF 5.00 (children) and CHF 8.00 (adults) at the Chrindi middle station.

Winter hiking and snowshoeing

Far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, surrounded by the marvellous silence of the snow-covered landscape, you can hike on well-prepared winter hiking trails through the magnificent Stockhorn region. The idyllic paths lead around the frozen Hinterstockensee lake or to the rustic alpine huts on the Lasenberg.

Four snowshoe trails with different levels of difficulty can be explored in the Stockhorn area. These can be hiked individually or combined into a complete snowshoe tour. If you don't have your own snowshoes, no problem. Snowshoes can be hired at the Chrindi middle station for CHF 25.00 per day.

daily every 30 minutes. First journey at 08.50, then every XX.20 and XX.50, last journey at 16.20

Descent from Chrindli:
daily every 30 minutes. First journey at 09.50, then always XX.20 and XX.50, last journey at 17.20

Take the train to Erlenbach i.S. There, follow the signposts in the direction of the Stockhorn cable car. After approx. 10-15 minutes you will reach the valley station of the Stockhorn cable car, which will take you comfortably to the Chrindi middle station. From there you can reach the Stockhorn igloo in 10-15 minutes.
