Tobogganing and skiing on the Niederhorn

A varied winter sports region

The snowy winter landscape makes for a magical experience, and the mountain scenery is simply breathtaking. Experienced tobogganists will definitely get their money’s worth here. The moderately difficult toboggan run can also be used by beginners without any problems. After you arrive at the Vorsass middle station, you can get back on the cable car towards the Niederhorn – and that’s when the fun begins again. There’s also plenty of fun to be had in the compact ski region on the Niederhorn for both beginners and experienced skiers and snowboarders alike.

It’s also ideal that you can get there by bus and train. The funicular railway and cable cars take winter sports enthusiasts from the shores of Lake Thun or from Beatenberg up to the ski region at 1,950 metres above sea level without any stress. Relax in the ski area with a unique view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains and Lake Thun.

For high-speed night owls and laid-back connoisseurs

Benefit from the special offer on Friday and Saturday evenings for “Tobogganing under the starry sky” and fly on your toboggan from the Niederhorn mountain station down to the Vorsass middle station. Enjoy the ride under the stars as you gaze out towards Lake Thun and the Bernese Alps with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains in the distance. If you want to combine tobogganing with dinner, you can enjoy a delicious fondue at the Niederhorn mountain restaurant.

  • Duration: approx. 40 min.

Accommodation

Why not extend your excursion after tobogganing under the starry sky and stay overnight in one of the small but lovely rooms in the Berghaus Niederhorn, with a one-of-a-kind view of the Bernese Alps (reservations required).

Alternative offer: Lantern hike

Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can book a lantern hike instead of star sledding at the same conditions. Further information can be found here.

Skiing and snowboarding

Whether you are an aficionado or a racer, you’ll find the right route for you on the Niederhorn. In excellent snow conditions, even off-piste skiers can get their fill: the downhill run into the valley to Beatenberg is not prepared.
