A cultural hike through the Valle dei Pittori
The Vigezzo valley is known for its art, and is often referred to as the Valley of the Painters.
It has inspired artists for centuries and astounds visitors over and over again with its natural beauty and valuable cultural artefacts.
Over the years, a great number of painters have left behind richly decorated façades, chapels and places of worship. They created uncountable works and decorated private residences and churches with their frescoes. Even today, the little hamlets along the mountain trails offer glimpses of their work on house façades and chapels. At the heart of this artistic tradition is the Rossetti Valentini School of Fine Arts in Santa Maria Maggiore, which was founded in 1878.
