Route and platforms
Informative, interactive and inspiring
Visitors of all ages can discover fascinating facts about renewable energy from water, wood, wind and the sun during their visit to Erlebnis Energie Entlebuch. They can also embark on a journey through time to explore the historical energy sources of natural gas and peat.
Platforms
The six platforms showcase pioneering achievements from the Entlebuch region:
- The first extraction of natural gas in Switzerland took place in Finsterwald
- The blades of the first large-scale wind turbine in the Canton of Lucerne turn above the Feldmoos area
- For more than 300 years, electricity has been generated from hydropower at the historic Farb power plant
- The first woodchip heating system with a district heating network in the Canton of Lucerne was established in Finsterwald
- Peat was once extracted in Switzerland’s largest moorland landscape
Numerous interactive attractions, such as the peat-treading pool, provide memorable experiences for visitors.
Ella, the adventure companion for children
Nowhere else in the Canton of Lucerne are there as many wood ants as in the Unesco Entlebuch Biosphere. As a representative of her species, Ella shares knowledge about sustainable energy and the remarkable abilities of wood ants. This clever bundle of energy also encourages young explorers to experience energy through exciting hands-on experiments.
The circular trail starts and ends at Entlebuch railway station. At the information point next to the station, visitors can obtain detailed information and pick up Ella’s adventure bag for children (self-service).
Route information
The six energy platforms can be visited independently, without prior registration, either as a complete circuit or in shorter sections. The information boards provide fascinating knowledge that can also be explored interactively. To ensure that no energy is wasted along the way, maps, the routes on outdooractive.com and signposts help visitors find their way.
Enjoy recharging your batteries in nature!
