Diemtigtal Valley Hiking Trail

A walk along the Fildrich and Chirel rivers

On the Valley Hiking Trail, you’ll cross eleven bridges over the Fildrich and Chirel valley streams. Especially on hot summer days, it remains pleasantly cool in the shade of the trees here on the river bank. Along the way, five campfire spots are ideal locations for a communal barbecue. On the approximately 15 km-long walking route, you stay away from the road, but can reach eleven different Postbus stops that are about 20 to 40 minutes apart. This means that there are countless opportunities to cut the route short or complete alternative walks (taking account of the Postbus timetable).

BLS tips

Equipment and food & drink

Although the path provides good walking conditions and in some sections can even be used by walkers with pushchairs, we would recommend that you wear good footwear in view of the length of the route. You should also carry a rucksack with sufficient food and drink for your walk.

Regional produce from the Diemtigtal Nature Park

Refrigerators with regional produce from the Diemtigtal Nature Park are available at the water play area, at the Anger cattle-viewing site, at the valley station of the Wiriehornbahn chairlifts (farmer shop), and at the tourist office at the Oey-Diemtigen Railway Station.

With children

The trail passes very close to the Gwunderwasser water play area. There is also a play area at the Anger cattle-viewing area (with a covered barbecue spot).

Availability Today (Friday) open

Depending on snow conditions, the trail can be followed every day from April to November.
