Prepare vehicle for loading

Before you drive onto the transport carrier with your vehicle

  • The transportation of dangerous goods is not permitted.
  • Fold in or remove wing mirror on the driver’s side.
  • Fold in wing mirror on the passenger side but so that you can still see the length of the vehicle.
  • Side aerials should not extend beyond the vehicle roof and are to be retracted accordingly.
  • Roof aerials are to be bent flat and, if necessary, fixed or removed (risk of contact with overhead traction system)
  • Implement these precautions in good time. You must be ready for loading 15 minutes before departure.

Drive on & park

When driving on

  • Drive through the train.
  • Stop when you get to the front-most free transport carrier that is fully covered.
  • Park your vehicle in the centre of the transport carrier to distribute its weight evenly.
  • Get into first gear or “park”, switch off the engine and put the handbrake on securely.
  • Switch your radio to DAB+ for traffic and rail news from SRG/SSR.
  • It is not permitted to park the vehicle across two transport carriers or one that is not completely covered.
  • Do not get out of the vehicle. You are in the proximity of the live overhead line (15,000V).
  • If it is necessary for you to leave the vehicle (e.g. vehicle malfunction), follow the instructions of the staff and do not carry any objects in your hands.

In an emergency

  • Remain calm. The train is accompanied by rail personnel.
  • Make sure you follow instructions issued by staff.
  • Never leave the train unless asked to do so by rail personnel.
  • Dial the number 112 in an emergency.
  • Switch your radio to DAB+ for traffic and rail news from SRG/SSR.
  • The tunnel is equipped with emergency lighting. Should you be forced to leave the train, activate the switch by the LEDs.
  • In an emergency, flee in the specified direction on the path to the side of the track. A handrail offers support.
  • Never touch any overhead traction system wires that are hanging down.
