Ice fishing on Oeschinen Lake at the Jungfrau-Aletsch Unesco World Heritage Site
Try your luck on the frozen Oeschinen Lake – a different kind of fishing experience!
Oeschinen Lake is a popular destination for ice fishermen and women from near and far. Ice fishing is possible on the lake from 1 January to around mid-March. The lake is covered by an ice layer 30–50 centimetres thick in winter. Many ice fishing fans bring a toboggan to the lake in winter and then enjoy a fast ride down to the valley in the late afternoon. The last piste check is at 17.00 hours. No skiing down to the valley is permitted after that (attention: be aware of the danger of collisions with snow groomers).
