Pleasure trip from Interlaken to Montreux

For 1st and 2nd class, seat reservations are strongly recommended, while for Prestige class they are mandatory.

Take the train to Interlaken Ost, West or Spiez. Then change to the GoldenPass Express (as per the timetable).

From Interlaken to Montreux without changing trains

From 11 December, there will be one direct connection per day in each direction. As of June 2023, the service will be expanded to offer 4 daily departures in each direction.

The total journey time from Montreux to Interlaken or vice versa is around 3 hours, 15 minutes.

The distance between Montreux and Interlaken is 115.34 kilometres: 62.43 kilometres on the metre gauge (Montreux–Zweisimmen) and 52.91 kilometres on the standard gauge (Zweisimmen–Interlaken). Along the way, the GoldenPass Express passes through three cantons: Vaud, Fribourg and Bern..

Ticket classes

The new GoldenPass Express has three different ticket classes. In addition to 1st and 2nd class, there is also the new Prestige class, which offers comfortable, adjustable seats that can now be heated and turned in the direction of travel.

Thanks to the large panoramic windows, all three classes offer a unique view and an unforgettable experience throughout the trip.

The carriages have luggage racks and ski holders.

The low-floor carriages are expected to be in service in the course of 2024. In these carriages there will subsequently be space for persons with reduced mobility as well as a toilet suitable for the disabled. All toilets are equipped with a changing table.

Booking

GA travelcard

The general travelcard is valid on this route.

For 1st and 2nd class, seat reservations are recommended, while for Prestige class they are mandatory. Select “Reservation only” under the “Reduction” option.

Half Fare Travelcard and full price

To take advantage of the offer, you need a valid ticket in the desired class. The Swiss Travel Pass, 1-day travel card, half-fare and general travelcard are all valid.

We recommend that all half-fare cardholders purchase a Saver Day Pass.

Saver Day Pass from CHF 29.00*

Travel around Switzerland all day long on public transport from CHF 29.00*. It is valid throughout the GA area of validity. The Saver Day Pass is available on the BLS Mobil app and the BLS Webshop

*Price with second class Half-Fare travel card. The earlier you book, the cheaper you travel. No refunds or exchanges.

Take the train to Interlaken Ost, West or Spiez. Then change to the GoldenPass Express (as per the timetable).

Food and drink

 The GoldenPass Express includes an on-board catering service with local products available with advance booking. In all three classes, snacks and drinks are also offered directly on board. During the journey, you can spoil yourself with culinary pleasures thanks to the on-board catering service.
