Allmenalp - a hiking paradise with stunning views

Hiking trails After an impressive trip by cable car along the Allmifluh with a view of the spectacular via ferrata, you land in the heart of the Allmenalp. The mountain station at 1,725 m is the starting point for all hikes.

The classic: Allmenalp – Ueschinental – Kandersteg (2.5h)

This leisurely hike leads from Allmenalp past exquisite alpine huts, as well as alpine farms and forests, to the Usser Üschene, where the trail branches off towards Kandersteg. With plenty of sun and a backdrop of the magnificent mountain panorama, this is the easiest circular route back to the village. The hike is also suitable in poor weather and works well in either direction.

The insider tip: Allmenalp – Alpschelehubel – Ueschinental – Kandersteg (4h)

Through the pasture landscape of Allmenalp, this trail branches off to Obere Allme at the foot of Kleiner Lohner. Along the stony mountain flank, you reach the Alpschele ridge. Here you’ll meet the original route of the “Via Alpina” long-distance hiking network, via which you can reach Adelboden via the Bunderchrinde. Your route, however, leads along the Alpschele ridge to the Alpschelehubel, where breathtaking views of the surrounding UNESCO mountain landscape await you. The descent leads via the Alp Alpschele and the Ueschinental valley back to Kandersteg.

The highlight: Allmenalp – First – Kandersteg (5h)

Halfway to Obere Allme, the hiking route branches off to the right in the direction of First. For a good two hours, the trail leads through the sheep pastures of the “Steintal” valley across open fields to the ridge and soon to the summit of the First, where you can enjoy spectacular, far-reaching views. Those who prefer a shorter option can descend via the same path back to the Allemnalp. The original route, however, leads further along the ridge and through flower meadows in the direction of Stand and Golitschen, where the trail branches off back to Kandersteg. Our tip: Look out for chamois, ibexes and golden eagles!

Circular route: Allmenalp – Bunderspitz – (Bunderchrinde) – Allmenalp (4.5h)

After crossing straight across the Allmenalp, the trail leads to the hiking summit of the Bunderspitz. The route from the gentle alpine pastures to the rocky summit takes a good two hours. The Bunderspitz is also a popular spot for ibexes and chamois, so keep your eyes peeled – although with these views, you’ll be doing that anyway. The descent leads either directly back to the Allmenalp or via a link around the Kleiner Lohner to the Bunderchrinde and back to the Allmenalp via the Alpschele ridge. There is even an alternative option to descend to Adelboden.
