Emmental–Entlebuch high-altitude trail

Mettlenalp–Fontanne–Obstaldenegg–Schüpfheim (12.3 km, 4 hours)

You hike along narrow but easily negotiable paths through forests and Alpine meadows. You take the mountain trail from the Emmental's gorges and ravines across the cantonal border and into the Entlebuch UNESCO biosphere reserve. Another short climb from Fontanne to Obstaldenegg is rewarded with views of the Bernese and Central Swiss Alps in the distance.

Buses are available from the bus stop “Mettlenalp (Napf)” exclusively on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as public holidays, from 4 May to 27 October 2019.

Notes

Getting there and back

Take the train to Langnau i.E., and from there ride the bus no. 284 (BLS hiking bus) to the final stop, “Mettlenalp (Napf)”. Return journey: take the train from Schüpfheim.
