The Emmental in one house
The Chüechlihus Regional Museum is one of the largest and most diverse regional museums with a cultural history collection in Switzerland. It got its name from the coffee house that operated until 1956 and was famous for its "Chüechli" - fat-baked biscuits.
Today, the regional museum provides lively insights into the cultural heritage of the Upper Emmental, from the alpine cheese dairy to the SCL Tigers, for young and old. Immerse yourself in the history and present of the Upper Emmental in one of the oldest buildings in the region that has largely been preserved in its original state: discover the everyday life, trades and crafts of the Emmental and meet important personalities of the region. The museum includes a permanent exhibition with 26 exhibition rooms, a temporary exhibition on current topics, a museum shop and an Honesty Bar.
You can easily reach Langnau by train. The regional museum is only a 5-minute walk from the station.

Discover the "Chüechlitiger" children's trail with your children. Immerse yourself in the past of the Emmental and experience the history of the region in an exciting way.
As if in a time machine, travel back in time at the Langnau Regional Museum to see how people used to live. There is a lot to discover: old tools, stories from back then and much more. The children's trail is like an exciting game. You can solve riddles, find hidden treasures and learn a lot about life in times past. It's a great way to have fun and learn something new at the same time.
The trail is suitable for children up to 12 years. The colour brochure "Chüechlitiger" can be purchased at the museum box office for CHF 4.50 (including craft materials, instructions and several surprises to take home - from 2 pieces with reduction).
Brätzeliroute
The Chüechlihus Regional Museum has teamed up with Spielkultur GmbH to develop the new “Brätzeliroute” format with aperitif and snack, which gives cyclists and other adventurers an entertaining way to learn more about the Emmental. This informative tour is ideal for those who want a quick overview of the history, crafts and culinary delights of the Emmental, so they are ideally equipped for their cycling trips and excursions in the region. It perfectly complements your stay in the Emmental and leaves lasting impressions.

BLS Tip
Freshly baked apple and rose chüechli are available at the Langnau Märit and at the Chüechlihus-Sunndig in September. And the small courtyard with a cottage garden, the large arbour and the foyer invite you to linger - also for aperitifs and concerts, museum tours and cultural events.
