Small, wonderful, inexpensive and an insiders’ tip: 10 kilometres of perfectly prepared pistes and a variety of winter hiking and snowshoe trails await you on Marbachegg. Enjoy breathtaking views of Mt. Schrattenfluh, Mt. Hohgant, the Bernese Alps and the Entlebuch and Emmental hills from the sun terrace and the Marbachegg mountain hut. In the valley, you will find 50 kilometres of classic cross-country trails and cross-country skating trails.
Travel comfortably and directly by train without changing from Bern and from Lucerne to Escholzmatt. Continue by bus to «Marbachegg, Talstation».
Skiing resort
Skiing on the Marbachegg is especially popular with families with children. With its two lifts and a total of 10km of varied but nevertheless clear runs, the Marbach-Marbachegg ski resort offers each family member individual routes to suit their taste and ability, while enabling the whole family to meet up regularly. In the village, right next to the valley station of the gondola lift, there is a children's ski lift where your little ones can practise their first skiing and snowboarding moves.

Snowshoe and winter hiking trails
There are several signposted winter hiking and snowshoe trails of varying levels difficulty and length (from 1.3 to 4.5km) from Marbachegg down into the valley. The hiking trails lead through the beautiful, snow-covered winter landscape on Marbachegg or in the village of Marbach.
Hikers, sun-seekers and bon vivants can travel up to Marbachegg and back during the winter season for just CHF 11.00!
Marbachegg–Marbach snowshoe trail

Experience a dreamlike snowshoe hike in Central Switzerland and enjoy sparkling winter landscapes with an impressive Alpine panorama of the Schrattenfluh, Hohgant, and Eiger mountains.
The varied snowshoe trail starts at the Marbachegg mountain station, which you can easily reach with the Bretzeli cable car from Marbach. After the first few meters of altitude, you will be immersed in a sparkling winter wonderland. The route is mainly downhill and initially leads past the Siedenmoosflue towards Nesselboden. With a little luck, you may spot traces of hares and other wild animals along the way. The trail then winds its way through idyllic snow-covered forests, offering pure winter romance. Shortly before reaching your destination in the village of Marbach, you will pass the famous Schrattenschanze ski jump. Marbach is considered an important training center for young Nordic athletes in Central Switzerland. The ski jump facility was opened in 1991 and extensively expanded and modernized in 2005. The snowshoe trail finally ends at the main road in Marbach, perfectly rounding off this enjoyable winter hike with snowshoes – ideal for nature lovers, those seeking peace and quiet, and active vacations in the Swiss Alps.

Snowshoe trail in the village of Marbach

Discover an atmospheric winter hike through the idyllic village of Marbach – ideal for leisurely hikers and nature lovers in Central Switzerland.
The route starts at the valley station of the Marbachegg sports lifts in the charming village of Marbach. At the start, cross the road towards the Hotel Sporting. Directly behind it, the winter hiking trail follows the Schönbach stream in a peaceful and natural setting – a particularly idyllic section of the tour. After about 800 meters, the trail leads under a bridge. Another 200 meters later, turn left where the ascent to Sidenmoos begins. Until about 100 years ago, this historic place was home to a sugar refinery. Once at the top, you will be rewarded with a sweeping view over the snow-covered Marbach valley – a real highlight of this winter hike.
The trail then continues at a leisurely pace before you cross a ski slope after a few meters. Special caution is required here. After a short descent, you will reach the famous Schrattenschanze ski jump. Marbach is an important training center for young Nordic athletes in Central Switzerland. The ski jump facility with its own T-bar lift was opened in 1991 and has been used intensively ever since. At the end of the tour, you hike past the children's lift back to the starting point at the valley station. This easy winter hike in Marbach combines nature, history, and alpine atmosphere – perfect for a relaxing day in the snow.

Winter hike Marbachegg–Marbach

The winter hike from the Marbachegg sun terrace offers impressive views and enjoyable trails. The Bretzeli cable car takes you comfortably from Marbach to Marbachegg. At the top, a magnificent panorama opens up between Hohgant and the imposing Schrattenfluh, stretching as far as the Bernese Alps with the Eiger.
The winter hiking trail leads leisurely past vacation homes towards Lochsitli and Wittenfärren. The striking mountain panorama of the Schrattenfluh accompanies you throughout. The trail then descends gently through wooded sections towards the village. Shortly before Marbach, it is worth making a detour to the Lourdes Grotto, a peaceful place of power. A pleasant path takes you back to the valley station of the Marbachegg sports lifts.
