Culinary delights on the Niederhorn

Pick up your backpack, set off and enjoy!

Unpack your backpack in the middle of a breathtaking natural landscape, prepare a delicious Swiss cheese fondue and savour it. The adventure begins at the railway ticket office in Beatenberg. The lovingly packed fondue backpack is waiting for you there. Now it's up to you to decide which is the best place on the Niederhorn for you to prepare and enjoy your fondue in the midst of idyllic nature.

The fondue backpack contains the following items:

• Regional fondue mix
• Fondue bread
• Spices
• Picnic blanket
• Caquelon
• Rechaud with windbreak and gas burner
• Fondue crockery and forks
• Lighter

The fondue backpack experience can be booked daily in winter and summer during operating hours. 

Please note that the offer does not include drinks. These can be purchased from the Bärgrestaurant Vorsass.

Return: Please return your backpack to the Bärgrestaurant Vorsass or the railway station in Beatenberg by 16.00 hours at the latest.

Breakfast buffet

From Monday to Friday, a generous breakfast buffet awaits you, providing you with everything that you will need for a day in the mountains. Croissants, bread, plaited loaf with jam, honey and butter, cold meats and cheese, Bircher muesli, fruit, tea, coffee, Ovomaltine and hot chocolate.

Niederhorn brunch

Start your Saturday or Sunday with a brunch on the Niederhorn. Includes everything you need for a mountain brunch: orange juice and a selection of hot drinks, croissants, plaited loaf and various other breads, butter and jam, cheese, sausage products and smoked salmon, yoghurt, Bircher muesli and fruit salad, various cereals with milk, scrambled egg with sausages and fried bacon, and much more.

Saturday, Sunday and general public holidays, 09.00–11.00 a.m.
Price per person: from CHF 50.00 (incl. train ride), children 5–16 years CHF 19.00 (without train ride)

Lunch and snacks

The modern, regional menu offers soups prepared with finesse, traditional Swiss dishes such as Bratwurst with Rösti, and delicious burgers too. Of course, there is also delicious cake.

* Prices per person. The Niederhorn family discount is valid (so that only the parents and first child are charged, with each further child in the family travelling for free). Food and drink must be paid for at the Berghaus itself.

Travel comfortably by train to Thun or Interlaken West. Continue with the STI bus (from Thun) or the PostBus (from Interlaken) to "Beatenbucht" or "Beatenberg Station." Or take the ship from any dock to "Beatenbucht."

The funicular and group cable car will then take you to Niederhorn.
