At an altitude of 1969 m above sea level, the Lauchernalp provides a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. Lauchernalp is a versatile starting point for leisurely walks, varied nature trails, and active mountain adventures. Treat yourself to culinary delights at the Lauchernalp Panorama Restaurant and savor homemade "Älplermagronen" on the panoramic terrace – accompanied by a breathtaking view of the Valais mountains.
By public transport, you can reach Lauchernalp from Bern in just 110 minutes. From Bern, the train takes you directly to Goppenstein. From there the post bus takes you to "Wiler, Talstation".

Loichi Ball Path
Great for families
This easy themed trail leads from Lauchernalp through the Baanwald forest down to Wiler. Along the way, marble runs, carved wooden figures, and several rest areas add variety to the hike. The trail is particularly suitable for families and visitors looking for an easy hike down into the valley.
The wooden balls for the ball runs are available at the following places for CHF 5.00 / piece:

Alp experience

Down the valley at high speed
Operating hours
While many destinations already end the season in mid-October, the mountain railroads on Lauchernalp remain open until the end of October. Ideal to enjoy the golden autumn in Valais longer and to experience the magnificent nature from its most beautiful side.
Post bus to Fafleralp
A shuttle bus service from Wiler to Fafleralp is planned between June 27, 2026, and October 25, 2026. More information will follow.

Food & Drink
Even if you don’t plan on going on a long hike, a trip to Lauchernalp is well worth it. On the sunny terraces of the mountain restaurants, Valais specialties are paired with unobstructed views of the Lötschental mountains.
Rest places and barbecue areas
On the Alpine experience trail between Lauchernalp and Hockenalp, right next to a small biotope, there is a barbecue area. A grill, wood, and water are available.
