The Areuse rises in St.-Sulpice ( canton of Neuchâtel) and slowly wends its way through to the Val-de-Travers Valley and on to Champ-du-Moulin. The river then seeks a route through the magnificent gorge to the village of Boudry, where it finally joins the waters of Lake Neuchâtel. The walk from Noiraigue to Boudry lasts approximately three hours.
