12 to 17 February 2026
For many Lucerne residents, carnival is the best time of the year. It begins on Fat Thursday with the Urknall (Big Bang). Three large parades are among the highlights of Lucerne Carnival. Thanks to numerous extra services and the Lucerne Carnival Pass, all carnival-goers and visitors can travel to the carnival celebrations comfortably, affordably, and safely by train and bus.

06.00 hours: Tagwach with monster concert

How to get there
From Dirty Thursday, 12 February, to Güdisdienstag, the night of 17/18 February 2026, numerous extra trips will be offered to and from Lucerne. All extra trips can be found in the online timetable.
Tip: The Lucerne Carnival Pass
During the Lucerne Carnival from 12 to 18 February 2026, you can enjoy free travel on public transport with the Passepartout Carnival Pass. The Carnival Pass is valid day and night in the zones covered by the fare network (including all early morning services and SGV extra connections).
