Frutigen Intervention & Maintenance Centre

During the tour, learn a lot of interesting facts about the tunnel’s safety measures, as well as the organization and responsibilities of the in-house fire department, including its firefighting and rescue unit. The tour begins at the BLS Info Centre in Frutigen. First, you’ll get an initial impression of the tunnel system and how it works in the exhibition. A model of the Lötschberg Base Tunnel will show you the dimensions of its imposing structure.

Smooth operation on the BLS grid requires a well-organised maintenance concept, and trains can only run on time if routes and vehicles are in perfect condition. Visit the maintenance centre and we’ll give you a little look behind the scenes as well as information on the organisation, working methods and storage of the Oberland construction and maintenance region.
