The fondue must be reserved in advance at the Petit Hôtel in Chaumont.

Located in Chaumont to the north of Neuchâtel, the Petit Hôtel has a large terrace that provides a magnificent panoramic view of the lake and the Alps. For an even more stunning view of the three lakes and the Alps, it’s well worth climbing the panoramic tower close to the funicular station.

As an alternative, you can descend on foot by taking the “Sentier du Temps” (the “Footpath of Time”). On this walk, you’ll find it impossible to resist the unbeatable views over Lake Neuchâtel, Lake Murten and Lake Biel/Bienne, the Swiss plateau and the distant Alps. Throughout the 4.5- kilometre-long stroll from the top of the Chaumont funicular to Neuchâtel, a total of 17 sculptures take you on a journey through time, retracing the history of the world from the “Big Bang” to the appearance of man.
