Prices for the funicular railway

  • CHF 4.40 Adults Single ticket
  • CHF 2.20 Reduced price Single ticket

Onde Verte single ticket 1-2 zones; valid for 1 hour

  • Valid on all public transport for any number of journeys within the selected zones and period of validity.
  • Exceptions: Short-distance tickets entitle the user only to single trips.
  • Reduced price for Half-Fare travelcard holders, children aged from 6 to 16 and dogs (always second class).
  • GA travelcard, Junior travelcard and Children’s Co-travelcard are valid

The funicular railway offers an easy way of ascending from Neuchâtel La Coudre to Chaumont. Once at the top, it’s just a short walk to:

  • Large children's playground
  • Climbing park
  • Lookout tower
  • Start of the “Sentier du Temps” (“Time Path”)
  • Picnic areas and barbecue spots
  • Restaurant Petit Hotel

Parc Aventure Chaumont

The Chaumont climbing park offers fun, exercise and action for the whole family in natural woodland surroundings. On 11 courses with more than 150 climbing installations offering different levels of challenge, everyone can test their nerves and enjoy a fun experience. The “Mini” course is designed for absolute climbing novices and can be accessed by children as young as two years of age. 

The “Sentier du Temps” (“Time Path”) 

This 4.5 km-long walking route takes you from the funicular railway mountain station on the Chaumont mountain down to Neuchâtel. Along the way, 17 sculptures tell the story of the Earth from the Big Bang to the dawn of humankind.

Distance: 4.5 kilometres
Elevation difference: 500 metres (descent)
Duration: 1.5 - 2 hours
Level of difficulty: Medium, with some steep sections. Good footwear is recommended.

Lookout tower

Next to the mountain station, the distinctive 100-year-old lookout tower offers fantastic views over the Three Lakes as far as the Alps. 

Food and drink

Several picnic areas and barbecue facilities are available. If you prefer to let someone else do the cooking, you can treat yourself to local cuisine with a panoramic view at the Petit Hôtel.
