The “Sentier du Temps” - Chaumont
A hiking trail that transports you from the time of the “Big Bang” to the appearance of man
On this walk, you’ll find it impossible to resist the unbeatable views over Lake Neuchâtel, Lake Murten and Lake Biel, the Swiss plateau and the distant Alps. Throughout the hike from the top of the Chaumont funicular to Neuchâtel, a total of 17 sculptures take you on a journey through time, retracing the history of the world from the “Big Bang” to the appearance of man.
This hike of 4.5 km takes you from the top of the Chaumont funicular to Neuchâtel. All along the trail, 17 wood statues retrace the history of the earth from the “Big Bang” to the appearance of man.

- Difficulty: Medium, but with some steep sections. Good footwear is recommended.
Funicular Neuchâtel - Chaumont
The Gurten funicular runs every day from 7:00 am to 11:45 pm (Sunday until 8:15 pm) and takes you in a few minutes from Wabern to the top of the Gurten. The general subscription and the Libero zone 100/101 day passes are valid. Tickets can also be purchased via the BLS online timetable and via the BLS Mobil App, as well as at all stations in Switzerland.
