    Routes

    Time for some mountain air

Past colourful meadows and crystal-clear mountain lakes – the most beautiful walking routes offer great variety and enjoyment. The tour planner provided by Lenk-Simmental Tourism helps you plan the perfect walk. For inspiration, here are our five top walks in Betelberg-Lenk:

    Gryden circular mountain trail

A special experience: the crater-like, bizarre rock landscape fascinates not just geologists and biologists but also anyone who enjoys a unique landscape. This rewarding circular mountain trail starts and ends at the Leiterli mountain station.
    Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes.
The circular trail can be combined with the Leiterli Alpine circular trail or the Betelberg Alpine flower trail.

    Leiterli circular Alpine trail

This easy circular walk of around 45 minutes takes you from Leiterli via Steinstoss and Agematte and back to the Leiterli mountain station. Original information and adventure stations show events and aspects of Lenk’s history and Alpine culture. What happened at the ‘Wiiberschlacht’ (‘Battle of the Women’), for example, and what’s so special about the Gryden? The spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding landscape are also well worth seeing. There are numerous places to sit and relax along the way.

    Betelberg Alpine flower trail

No plants are sown or planted on the Betelberg Alpine flower trail – here, the garden belongs to Mother Nature alone! The Betelberg Alpine flower trail is situated at an altitude of 2,000 metres above sea level and starts at the Leiterli mountain station. Here you will find the kind of natural diversity that is quite rare these days. 95 information plaques along the 1.8-km circular trail help you to identify the Alpine flowers. In July and August, up to 70 species of flower are in blossom. The circular trail is surrounded by a unique panorama with views over the head of the valley and the Haslerberg upland moor.

    Leiterli-Trütlisbergpass-Wallegg-Lenk

This walk from Leiterli over the Trütlisberg Pass to Lenk offers a spectacular panorama. Along the way, you can take in unforgettable views all the way to the head of the valley, dominated by the Wildstrubel. The route follows the Alpine flower trail and the Leiterli Alpine circular trail before reaching the impressive landscape of the Gryden. The trail snakes its way past the cratered landscape towards the Trütlisberg Pass, the gateway to the Saanenland. From here, you go through Alpine meadows and forests and descend around 950 metres back into the village of Lenk.
    Duration 4 hours 30 minutes

    Leiterli–Iffigsee–Iffigenalp

Far away from hectic everyday life, you will find one of Lenk’s most beautiful mountain walks. Taking a good five hours to complete, the circular mountain trail to Iffigenalp leads you past Lake Iffig, a pristine blue mountain lake. Iffigenalp, the walk’s end point, lies peaceful and idyllic in the upland valley of the Gelten-Iffigen nature reserve at 1,584 metres above sea level.

There are of course many other remarkable walks, which you can find out more about in the guidebook or the interactive summer map.
