After your arrival in the pretty village of Môtiers in the heart of Val-de-Travers, you can discover the Absinthe House and the secrets of the Green Fairy thanks to an interactive exhibition and tastings of local absinthes. Once you enter the Asphalt Mines, you will first get to sample the house speciality, ham cooked in asphalt, and then explore the underground tunnels.
During the journey into the mountain, you will learn how the miners extracted the asphalt over the course of around three centuries, thereby creating a maze of tunnels stretching over 100 kilometres in total length.

You can also advance-book a culinary workshop at the Absinthe House.

The guided tours of the Asphalt Mines are offered in German, French, English and Italian.
On one weekend a month, the “Mystery of Val-de-Travers” game is organised. Participation is open to everyone.
