Simplon tunnel renovation 16.02.–28.05.2026
SBB is renovating the Simplon Tunnel between Brig and Iselle from 2025 to 2030. The renovation work includes the tunnel vault and the carriageway in the tunnel. The construction work will affect the BLS car transport service between Brig and Iselle.
From 16 February to 28 May 2026, car loading trains will run at 120-minute intervals instead of the usual 90-minute intervals (also at Easter, Whitsun and Ascension). From 28 May until the end of 2026, construction work will be suspended so that the normal 90-minute interval service can be offered again. And from 28 May to 25 October 2026, the popular 60-minute interval service will be back from Friday lunchtime to Sunday.
