You can benefit from the discount when you travel there and back by public transport using any ticket or travelcard, e.g. a standard public transport ticket, a Day Pass, a supersaver ticket, a Regional Travelcard, a Half Fare Travelcard or a GA Travelcard.

*Please note: The number of discounted public transport tickets is limited each month. Once the 50% tickets are used up, the discount is reduced to 30%. Once the 30% tickets are used up, the price reduction will no longer apply.

Christmas magic at Münsterplatz

Since 2011, the Christmas market at Münsterplatz has been one of the highlights of Christmas in Basel. A magnificently decorated Christmas tree welcomes visitors in front of the historic Basel Minster. Under the trees decorated with glowing snow globes, numerous stalls offer a wide range of gift ideas, food, and drinks.

During Advent, Münsterplatz shines with a special glow: the twinkling lights, the scent of mulled wine, and the sounds of Christmas music create a fairytale atmosphere. Against the impressive backdrop of the cathedral, this is one of the most beautiful squares in Basel – a place where you can linger and soak up the festive atmosphere.

Festive market atmosphere

An atmospheric Christmas market with numerous lovingly designed stalls awaits you at Barfüsserplatz and around Barfüsserkirche. The range of products on offer extends from festive Christmas tree decorations to a wide variety of gift ideas. You can enjoy winter specialties in a cozy atmosphere at the food stalls, while candle making offers a wonderful opportunity to create a personal gift.

The white market stalls in front of the Barfüsserkirche and the additional stalls along the square create a particularly inviting Advent atmosphere, surrounded by twinkling fairy lights and tempting scents. The market at Barfüsserplatz is therefore an ideal complement to the Christmas market at Münsterplatz.

Winter fun at Claraplatz

The Christmas market at Claraplatz in Kleinbasel is known for its large alpine hut, which invites visitors to relax and enjoy themselves. A wide range of culinary delights awaits you here: from cheese specialties such as fondue in bread and classic fondue variations to meat dishes and hot and cold drinks. Vegan options are also available, so there is something for everyone. Claraplatz offers a wide range of culinary delights that perfectly complement the cozy Advent atmosphere.
