Would you like to explore the Lötschberg south ramp in a group under expert guidance? This classic hiking route runs along a railway line that is more than 100 years old and is a highlight for every nature lover and railway fan.
The hike leads from Hohtenn, via Lidu, Brägji and Rarnerkumme, to Ausserberg. Along the way you can enjoy spectacular landscapes with unique flora and fauna and breathtaking views over the Rhone Valley. Meanwhile, your hiking guide will regale you with interesting information about the historic Lötschberg mountain line. The route is considered one of the most important and boldest works of civil engineering in Swiss railway history and impresses with artificial structures such as the imposing Bietschtal bridge, which you will cross directly next to the tracks on your hike.
The guided hike can be booked for private groups of six people or more daily from May to June and from September to October by appointment.
The scenic hike from Hohtenn to Ausserberg takes you into Swiss railway history, with several railway viaducts, tunnels and ramps to marvel at along the way. On the well-developed railway hiking trail, you will experience BLS at close quarters and on a real-life scale under expert guidance. You will learn interesting facts about the spectacular track construction between 1906 and 1913, for example about the Luogelkin viaduct and the Bietschtal bridge. Your guide will also provide intriguing information about the protection of the track system against natural hazards. Anecdotes from the history of the region promise a varied and entertaining day.

Private group hikes for six or more people are available by appointment daily from May to June and from September to October. In case of bad weather forecasts, the hike will be cancelled by the day before at the latest and rescheduled for a later date.
Children must be at least 12 years old and may only take part in the tour if accompanied by an adult. Children aged 12 to 15 can join the tour for free, but they still need to be listed on the registration form.
