Bicycle hire service at railway stations

Travel in comfort by train to the most beautiful excursion destinations. On arrival, you can collect your bicycle directly at the railway station, hop in the saddle and begin your bicycle tour.

Many railway stations offer a variety of bicycle types and e-bikes for hire which, depending on your route, can also be dropped off at a different location.

It’s this easy

Bookings and collection

Book your hire bicycle online from our partner Rentabike or by directly contacting your desired hire station by telephone. Book in good time, especially if travelling as a group or school class. Bookings can be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before departure.

You can obtain your rental contract directly at the station's ticket counter or luggage counter. Use your personal ID card, Half-Fare travelcard, GA travelcard or driver’s licence as proof of ID. Pay in cash or by EC card.

Bicycle helmets can be additionally hired at each station for CHF 5.00 per day.

Returns

Bicycles and e-bikes can generally be returned either at the same hire station or a different station. Your desired drop-off point must be indicated when booking. Please note the opening times of your drop-off point.

Discounts

Group discounts and reductions will be applied to the full booking. They are only valid at official Rent a Bike rental locations. No accumulation of discounts is possible. RailBon, vouchers, promotions, etc. are not eligible.

  • The group discount of 20% on everything (incl. return fees) is available for bookings of at least 10 rentals.
  • The school discount of 30% on the category bike / MTB-V-Brake (price category 1), the accessories and the return fee is available for bookings of school classes accompanied by a teacher with at least 10 rental objects.

Transporting rented bicycles yourself by train

If you grow tired, you can load your rented bicycle yourself without an additional bicycle ticket. This only applies to bicycles hired at railway stations.

Groups and schools

The number of bicycles per station is limited. Many railway stations have 10 or more bicycles available, with the largest stations such as Biel/Bienne and Murten even offering up to 200. Nevertheless, groups and schools should book as early as possible!

If the railway station you wish to start your bicycle tour from cannot provide enough bicycles for your group, then the mobile Rent a Bike hire station can be booked. No matter where, what and when, Rent a Bike will deliver your selected bicycles to your chosen location.

Groups and schools benefit from attractive conditions.

Groups of 10 or more paying cyclists receive a 10% discount on the basic rate.

School classes with 10 or more people accompanied by a teacher receive a 50% discount on the standard rate on weekdays, provided that the bicycles are hired directly from an official hire station.
