Cross-country skiing in Lötschental

The trail from Blatten to Fafleralp is a wonderful route through the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Lötschental. It leads past the impressive Baroque Chapel of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and then climbs in zigzags to Fafleralp. There you can enjoy a loop through unspoilt nature in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Site before taking the same route back to Blatten. The trail is suitable for both classic cross-country skiers and skaters. The starting point is directly by the post bus stop "Blatten (Lötschen), Post".

This cross-country ski trail is more than just a link between the two villages of Kippel and Wiler. It is breathtakingly beautiful. This route can be tackled both in the classic cross-country skiing style and in skating style. The starting point is the campsite in Kippel. You can reach the campsite on foot in around 7 minutes from the "Kippel, Altersheim" post bus stop.

The trail starts in Wiler and leads through the snow-covered landscape along the Lötschenbach stream to Blatten. The route can be traversed in both the classic and skating styles. The starting point is at Lonzastäg in Wiler. From the post bus stop "Wiler (Lötschen), Dorf", you can reach it on foot in around 8 minutes.

The village trail in Kippel is ideal for beginners and anyone who wants to enjoy cross-country skiing in a quiet and relaxed environment. The route leads through the village of Kippel and its immediate surroundings. It offers a marvellous view of the surrounding mountains and the typical Lötschental architecture with its characteristic wooden houses. The trail is suitable for both classic cross-country skiers and skaters. The starting point is the campsite in Kippel. The cross-country ski trail in Wiler offers a varied route for cross-country skiers. It leads through the picturesque village of Wiler and the surrounding countryside. The trail is suitable for both classic cross-country skiers and skaters. The starting point is at Lonzastäg in Wiler. From the post bus stop "Wiler (Lötschen), Dorf", you can reach it on foot in around 8 minutes.

The cross-country ski trail starts just above the post bus stop "Blatten (Lötschen), Dorf". At the beginning, the route leads over a wide area, which is perfect for warming up and getting in the mood for the trail. After a few laps of this area, you cross the Lonza and continue on a gentle incline towards Fafleralp.

After crossing the bridge at Eisten, you have the choice of either staying on the valley trail or returning to the starting point through a small wooded area. If you opt for the valley trail, you also have the option of choosing a small additional loop. This loop leads you to a short ascent from where you can enjoy a marvellous view of Blatten. The route then leads between the barns back to the starting point.
