Sights

Biel/Bienne

Directly situated on the shores of Lake Biel, the town of Biel offers a unique combination of culture, charm and openness. The largest bilingual town in Switzerland fascinates visitors with its lively cultural scene and charming medieval old town that invites you to stroll down its dreamy alleys.

St. Peter's Island

Situated in the middle of Lake Biel, St Peter's Island is the ideal spot for a well earned break. St. Peter's Island invites you to relax among reed beds, vines and sandy beaches. Treat yourself to a break in the restaurant, which indulges guests with exquisite regional produce and wines from around Lake Biel. You can reach the island via boat from Biel/Bienne. Those who fancy a bit more exercise can return to Erlach on foot or bike via the Heidenweg.

Murten

Discover the most beautiful views over Murten, walk over the unique ring wall and stroll through the arcades on the main street which boasts a wide variety of shops. You can pick up the brochure "Murten erleben" (Experience Murten) from Murten's tourist information office and use it to take the sightseeing tour around the town on foot.

Notes

Why not combine a train and boat trip with some fine on-board dining? The many boats that continually traverse the transparent waters of Lake Biel, Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Murten offer stunning views of idyllic panoramas and gossamer horizons.

The “Neuchâtel” steamboat

Relive the “Belle Époque” era on board the “Neuchâtel”, the last remaining steamboat in the Three Lakes region, and marvel at the regular motion of its paddles and pistons. Recommissioned in 2014 after three years of renovation work, the boat – which dates from 1912 – now operates regular services again on Lakes Neuchâtel and Murten and is frequently used on the Two Lakes cruise between Murten and Neuchâtel.

Catering

The boats offer a varied and tempting choice of menus, snacks and drinks. Reservations are recommended for meals. Other dining options are available at the port of Biel/Bienne or en route at the stop on St. Peter's Island.
