For those with a head for heights: Allmenalp via ferrata and paragliding

Let your heart beat faster: on the Allmenalp via ferrata or/and on a tandem paragliding flight.

A secured and varied via ferrata route awaits you on the way to Allmenalp, which since summer 2020 even offers a second alternative route halfway up. If you prefer to explore the Kandersteg mountains from the air, a tandem paragliding flight from the Paragliding Paradise Allmenalp is the best opportunity to do so.

Take the train to Kandersteg. After leaving the station turn right and follow the signs "Allmenalpbahn". The walk to the valley station takes about 10 minutes.

Via ferrata Allmenalp

Many paths lead up to Allmenalp. One of them is vertical through the 550m high Allmi Fluh. Appropriately secured with steps, Nepal bridges, (rotating) ladders and tyroliennes, you climb along the Allmi waterfall to Allmenalp.
Since summer 2020, the "Freude herrscht" option has existed halfway along the route, which offers a somewhat more exposed alternative to the original route. The entire via ferrata is only recommended for those who are free from giddiness and experienced in via ferrata.

Paragliding on Allmenalp

Whether you are a paraglider pilot or for those who want to become one or try it out; Allmenalp has a long tradition among paraglider pilots. Experience gliding silently through the air and viewing the mountain world from a very unique perspective. A booked tandem flight (10-20 minutes) includes a ride up the mountain on the Allmenalp cable car. The take-off and landing sites are 5 minutes away from the mountain and valley stations respectively. A very special experience to explore the mountain world!

Ascent

From the valley station of the Allmenalp cable car on the marked route to the left, then to the right of the Allmibach to the entrance at about 1,250 m, at the level of the lowest waterfall.

Descent

By cable car. On foot via Ryharts and Schneitböde in 1 hour and 15 minutes or by tandem paragliding.

Via ferrata equipment can be hired from the sporting goods shops in Kandersteg and also directly from the Allmenalp cable car valley station. The hire price is CHF 25.00 per person per day.

A stop at the Bergbeizli Allmenalp is part of every visit to Allmenalp. Toast to the via ferrata ascent on the sun terrace and watch the paragliders take off from the nearby launch site.
