Safety in and on Lake Thun
Keep your distance in the water
In good weather in particular, Lake Thun is an intensively used leisure paradise. Yet what is fun for one person may interfere with the work of another. For this reason, we aim to foster mutual understanding, to avoid conflicts and to minimise everyone's risk of accident.
When swimming or pursuing any other kind of water sport, please note that eddies and waves can be just as dangerous as paddle wheels and boats' propellers. This is why the yellow posters at the landing stages remind you to adhere to the following safety distances:200 metres in front of and behind every boat |
||
50 metres on either side of every boat |
People who ignore these safety distances and thus hinder shipping movements are endangering themselves and others and are also committing an offence.
