Southern Lötschberg ramp
The classic hike
Experience nature, culture and all kinds of railway sites on the southern Lötschberg ramp. The southern Lötschberg ramp trails begins in Hohtenn, on the sunny side of the Rhone valley, passes through Ausserberg and Eggerberg, and ends in Lalden. This classic high-altitude trail will fascinate hikers of all ages with its lively mix of Alpine and southern vegetation, spectacular railway buildings, magnificent views of the Rhone valley and countless examples of local culture. Keep up your strength en route with a traditional “Lötschberg Platter” of classic Valais specialities in Ausserberg.

NEW: On 6 September 2013 the extension of the classic hiking route from Lalden via Naters to Brig will be opened |

Walking time approx. 5 hrs. 30 min. |

You can also complete the hike easily in shorter stages as there are several stations along the route. |
