Brienz Rothorn Bahn

A unique steam railway and panorama experience

The journey on the steam cog railway and the view of the Brienzer Rothorn will delight those who love nature and train enthusiasts alike. Since 1892, the Rothorn Bahn has been pounding, hissing and puffing up the Brienzer Rothorn. It is the only steam railway with eleven steam locomotives from three generations, which runs under steam daily throughout the summer season. Arriving at the 2350 metre high summit, you are rewarded with a fantastic view. And if you do not wish to travel back down the same day, you can stay overnight in the pleasant mountain hotel and enjoy the peace on the mountain summit. Incidentally, children travel free on the Brienz Rothorn Bahn.

Journey

Take the steam cog railway from Brienz station to the Brienzer Rothorn or take the postbus from Schüpfheim station to Sörenberg and continue your journey by cableway to the Brienzer Rothorn.
