Superstructure replacement
Tracks and points are subject to a natural ageing process, which is affected by local conditions and a high incidence of traffic.
In the course of annual inspections, the elements that have to be replaced are determined three years in advance. This generous time frame allows for influences from adaptations to facilities and other projects to be taken into account.
Project objectives:
| To guarantee safe and comfortable railway operations | |
| To ensure a far-sighted preservation of structures | |
| To optimise the life-cycle costs of tracks and points | |
| To avoid bad investments | |
| To ensure a lean infrastructure |
The project involves...
| Track optimisation | |
| Examination of substructure conditions and possibilities of drainage | |
| Substructure reconstruction, ballast replacement or ballast cleaning | |
| Replacement of sleepers and rails or points parts |
