Interlaken Ost: renovation of Platform 4
The platform shared by BLS and zb is 20-30cm high, which no longer satisfies present-day requirements in terms of safety, comfort and capacity, nor does the platform length of 401m meet today’s and tomorrow’s standards.
The conditions for changing trains between standard and narrow gauges must therefore be improved in accordance with the national standards for platform facilities, which means raising the platforms to P55 for standard gauge and to P35 for narrow gauge..
Project objectives:
| Increase in capacity in order to guarantee conditions for successful connections within restricted time windows | |
| Improvement in customer comfort | |
| Increase in timetable stability through customer-friendly conditions for changing trains | |
| Ensuring that 2 long long-distance trains are able to cross | |
| Extension of Platform 5 to NL 420m |
The project involves...
| Raising Platform 3 to P55 for standard gauge and to P35 for narrow gauge | |
| Adaptations to existing platform equipment | |
| Supplementary platform furniture such as lighting, information pillars, etc. | |
| Extension of the platform roof at the Lanzenen end | |
| Adaptations to the rail facilities at the Lanzenen end, new rail connection to Bönigen |
